Re: Fresh Roast SR500 Coffee Roaster Computer

I posted a second blog entry showing more photos and explanation of taking things apart. I've got some parts on order for trying to control the heater with a TRIAC and a zero-crossing detector. This is where you sense when the 60hz wave of the AC power momentarily becomes 0 volts. It then sends a si...

Re: Fresh Roast SR500 Coffee Roaster Computer

Part One of the " FreshRoast SR500 Teardown " has now been posted in the blog HERE . Part One discusses the basics of disassembling the SR500 coffee roaster and is focused on gaining access inside to allow someone to clean the inside. I've photographed most of the circuit board removal and...

Re: Fresh Roast SR500 Coffee Roaster Computer

I do not have any wiring diagrams of the roaster. However, I have an extra base that I am getting ready to disassemble sometime in the next week. While I'm taking it apart I will be photographing the breakdown. Think of it as what happens when a few of those tech blog guys get new iPads or iPhones a...

Re: Fresh Roast SR500 Coffee Roaster Computer

Finally! I got the SD memory stick working! I managed to get it to create a CSV file on the SD memory stick with several (not currently populated) columns of data and a time/date stamp with a temperature reading from the thermocouple! In about 4 minutes and 30 seconds that I just gave it a hit of he...

Re: Fresh Roast SR500 Coffee Roaster Computer

Soo... the latest update... I had wired in the SD memory stick reader and had been testing it separate from the main roaster program. Generally I've found having "dedicated" programs to a particular sensor with the rest of the system wired on but not initialized has resulted in easier test...

Why this site is here. How to use the site...

I figured I should post here about what the purpose of this site is and how to go about using it... Spam / Registration issues. As many people may or may not be aware on the internet there is a significant amount of people who register on phpBB and dozens of other websites to spam the forums with po...

Re: Fresh Roast SR500 Coffee Roaster Computer

Yikes, looks like I missed the fact that you posted to approve it. I tried to make it where you could post without approval last time and it didnt work. I kept looking back not seeing any follow up until I clicked the message today. I think I fixed it this time. I can probably change that approval r...

Re: Fresh Roast SR500 Coffee Roaster Computer

Main Menu There will be a couple minor tweaks to squeeze some extra stuff on this screen but pretty close to what it will end up being unless I come up with other ideas of other features to add and end up needing a new structure. http://www.roastgeek.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/wpid-20...

Re: Fresh Roast SR500 Coffee Roaster Computer

and... as of now I've managed to get the SHT15 to report temperature readings reliably back to back in a loop for several dozen hits and responded appropriately when warmth was applied etc and then when I rebooted the circuit after inserting a set of math to convert the reading to a real temperature...
